Steve Zimmerman A Toolkit to make it easier for California nonprofits to comply with the Nonprofit Integrity Act of 2004 (SB 1262) will be published this fall by CompassPoint Nonprofit Services. The Toolkit provides “one-stop shopping” for nonprofit managers with guides on how to comply with each part of the law, job descriptions of new board committees, and template resolutions and processes for nonprofit boards to adopt. The project is partially funded by the San Francisco Foundation. For example, with the Nonprofit Integrity Act’s new regulations for board approval of executive director and CFO compensation, the Toolkit will include both step-by-step ways to determine whether salaries are reasonable, and ready-to-use board resolutions approving the CEO and CFO salaries. The Toolkit will be available on CD with templates that organizations can alter and use for their own purposes. An advisory panel for the Toolkit includes California State Deputy Attorney General Belinda Johns who helped write the law, Tom Silk of Silk, Adler & Colvin, Peggy Minnich from the California Wellness Foundation and Sharon Zorbach of Deloitte & Touche. CompassPoint Nonprofit Services is planning for release in November for $49 (plus tax and shipping) for the Toolkit. Advance orders are being taken for $39 - a 20% discount. Orders are being taken at www.compasspoint.org/bookstore or you can request an order form by calling 408-248-9505 or emailing bookstore@compasspoint.org.
