| Deputy Attorney General to Speak in San Francisco with Attorney Thomas Silk on New Charity Integrity Law | |

Contact: Belinda Johns of the State Attorney General's Office, and Thomas Silk of the law firm Silk, Adler & Colvin, will speak in San Francisco advising nonprofits on how to comply with the new law going into effect January 1, 2005. With just two months notice, more than 100,000 California nonprofits will have to comply with new and complex legislation in the Charity Integrity Act (SB 1262) signed by Governor Schwarzenegger and going to effect on January 1 of the coming year. To explain the law and how to comply with it, a free briefing will be held on Tuesday, December 14, at 10:00 am at the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco. The program's emphasis will be on practical compliance with the new law, rather than on debating the merits of the law.
