If you've suddenly become your agency's "accidental" webmaster, despite very little experience creating web pages, this workshop series is for you. Over three days, this workshop covers the skills needed to update an already-existing site, or create one from scratch. The course combines classroom and hands-on instruction to work through planning and technical skills that will help you succeed in your "accidental" role.

Day 1: Planning a Website: We'll explain the basic language and concepts of the Web, with special attention to "inherited" web sites. This session will cover the roles and responsibilities of webmasters, and web site structure. This day also includes tips for effective web site updating and maintenance.

Day 2: HTML Basics: Now that you've learned the basic planning process, you're prepared to create your own web pages. Students will create their own web pages and learn how to recognize new "tags" in other documents. HTML covered will include formatting text, inserting images, creating hyperlinks, and more.

Day 3: Web Site Tools and Techniques: With the basics of HTML in place, Day Three looks into current tools and techniques that help webmasters create websites in a minimum amount of time. Web Editors, FTP, ASP's and how to "copy" good HTML code will be covered. Effective website promotion will also be explained, as well as how to take down an outdated web site.
